Activities
The Costa Maya is unspoiled by large development and focuses on ecotourism and bio-diversity. With the jungle behind us and the sea at our doorstep, nature envelopes Balamku.
At Balamku, you will want to relax and be with the beauty of nature. There are countless varieties of birds (orioles, jays, flycatchers, hummingbirds and sea birds, especially) many butterflies and interesting iguanas to observe as you walk/hike in our area. |

Snorkeling an Scuba Diving Excursions Our coastal reef is beautiful to explore, but you may want to visit Chinchorro, the second largest atoll in the world. This Biosphere Reserve is considered an ecotourist´s paradise.

Deep sea fishing
can be arranged with our local fishermen as well as a few new boats here. Our
American friend has a 28' Proline boat for luxury deep sea fishing. Please ask
about the options. Fly

SIAN KAAN BIOSPHERE RESERVE

One of Mexico´s Natural Protected Parks, Sian Kaan, just north of the Costa Maya, is best accessed around Tulum on your way south to Balamku.
However, there are fishermen in our south end of the biosphere who will take you
on a boat trip. This is about one hour north of Mahahual. A sunken ship is
accessible in that area without a boat - an interesting snorkeling opportunity.
Mayan Archaeological Sites - More Info
Only one hour from Balamku, enjoy the beautiful jungle setting and ruins of Chacchoben. Kohunlich, famous for the stucco masks, and Dzibanche, are close to Chetumal but can be seen in a day trip. A good resource for Mayan guides: www.chacchobenruins.com
